Aims of the workshop, To provide staff an opportunity to enhance their leadership capability through developing coaching skills.

Objectives

  • Adopt a coaching style to enhance individuals performance
  • Conduct meetings using the GROW model
  • Recognise opportunities to adopt a coaching style when providing feedback, in performance meetings and on-going staff development
  • Recognise the importance of motivating others to achieve goals
  • Manage performance issues with confidence.

We initially discussed the definitions, principals and process of coaching, clarifying that it is a goal centred, forward moving process which enables staff to move from where they are now to where they want/or need to be.

The delegates where then introduced to the GROW Model which is one of the best known and widely used coaching models. The delegates then practised coaching in groups of three in order to gain practical experience of coaching, being coached and offering constructive feedback.

We also introduced a number of personal development tools and techniques to assist with enhancing performance; such as how to set powerful goals; the personal development wheel; Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs for understanding an individual’s motivational indicators and values and belief systems.

Throughout the day we introduced many positive behavioural tools and exercises that were both fun and reflective for the delegates to develop themselves and others.

The feedback we received was very positive indeed.

On behalf of Lancashire constabulary I wish to thank you and IMS Coaching Ltd for your support in delivering our Skills for Lancashire programme. The Coaching workshops you delivered where well received and have increased the number of staff who wish to become force mentors and coaches.

The work you have conducted on a one to one basis with members of staff for their own development has also received excellent feedback and delivered positive results with staff gaining promotions and increased self confidence.

Your passion and enthusiasm for coaching and self development is second to none and Lancashire constabulary are pleased to have you signed up as an external coach for the organisation.

Wishing you and your company the very best for the future
